This piece of software is for fun.
Have you ever wondered who the best is? What it takes to gain the respect and adoration of the world?
There is probably no strong scientific basis
for the rankings that it generates. It is first off based on flickr's
idea of what makes an image interesting. And you know how those kooks think.
That said, the photo streams of the flickstrs that end up
in the Top20 do turn out to be pretty amazing. There is wierd stuff that shows up at times,
and for that I would remind you about the aforementioned kookiness.
The software is written in Django,
Python, MySQL,
Apache2 and FlickrClient running on a
Linux system sitting in my basement.

| Jul 18 2006 | Cleaned up and updated the database. Found there were dups in there that were skewing the weekly results :( I have more faith in the scores now. I also reduced the weight associated with popularity :) |

| Jul 23 2006 | Added data from all of 2005, that changed the All Time Top 20 a fair bit... hopefully for the better. Data from before that seems very heavily skewed, with a few people having lots of entries in the interesting pages. |
| Sep 09 2006 | Created a person view and linked that into the other screens. It is interesting to see the clusters of creativity on flickr for people. The person view shows all the images that are in the database, so it includes those that did not really make it to the Top 20. |

| Oct 22 2006 | Changed the algorithm to exclude the first 3 weeks of 2005, as the data for those weeks seems very skewed, probably due to flickr not having gained traction, or due to the interestingness algorithm. |

Added search capability with the Google Custom Search Engine. I dont think I like the
way it hijacks the page layout, and the fact that I cant change the size of the font.
I think the font size is the biggest issue... Otherwise, its pretty cool! Anything beats having to write code from scratch! |

Found out that the All-Time stats were not taking into account activity prior to
2006 :(. Changed that. Many apologies... The recent scores should probably be weighted more than older weeks... will ponder some more.. |
